SOURCE: my transmission wont shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. did you drop the pan replace the filter and add four to five quarts,If still a problem try doing a full transmission flush at a quick lube. A transmission flush with Lucas trans tune up will probably fix your non shift issue, try this first before looking into a new tranny !

That should improve MPG from TH400 by lowering 70 MPH needed engine speed by 400 RPM Or, if I turn off lockup converter, RPM's will increase about 300 RPM. Web18 May 2010 · There are several other items that affect the 3-4 clutch as well. The 3rd gear accumulator, which is part of the 2nd gear servo assembly, absorbs the shock of the 3-4 clutch apply. The accumulator is a piston with a sealing ring around it. If the sealing ring fails, apply pressure to the clutch will bleed off and the clutch will slip and burn.

For recap: I am building a 1000-1200HP motor to put my chevelle through the traps at 150+mph, but I want to cruise 85mph between 2500 and 3000RPM.

Not even enough coupling to sustain speed, much less accelerate. I took it on a 1 hour trip (there and back) and it did fine.
